Position Overview:
The Event Coordinator’s main responsibility will be to support the planning and execution of Mental Health Foundation (MHF) events, ensuring they run smoothly and successfully. Additionally, this role will provide essential support to community event organizers that fundraise on our behalf, including but not limited to attending events as a representative of the MHF, providing event expertise, working with AGLC, and gathering relevant event materials. To excel in this role, the candidate should have good organizational skills and a keen eye for detail, as well as a passion for mental health, event planning, fundraising, and logistics. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event management, develop valuable collaboration skills, and contribute to the success of exciting and diverse events at a rapidly growing charity.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Event Coordination – assist in the planning and coordination of events from start to finish, including event strategy and logistics.

On-Site Assistance – support on-site event management, including set-up, registration, and troubleshooting.

Administrative Support – provide general administrative support to the events team, including event database maintenance and creation and distribution of event materials.

Communication – communicate effectively with vendors, sponsors, and participants, and assist in drafting and sending event communications to stakeholders.

Post-Event Evaluation – assist in conducting post-event evaluations to gather feedback, and summarize and report on event metrics and areas for improvement.

Other duties, as required.
Qualifications & Skills:

Currently enrolled as a student or recent graduate in a relevant field (eg. Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing).

Previous experience in event management or a related field is an asset.

Experience with project management tools and customer databases is an asset (eg. Asana, Raiser’s Edge).

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Comfortable interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders via written and verbal communication and attending community events as a representative of MHF.

Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team.

Willingness to take on various tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Strong problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude.

Eagerness to learn and contribute to the success of events.

Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a good driving record (abstract) and reliable vehicle is required.

Familiarity with or interest in fundraising and philanthropy, particularly in the field of mental health and addictions, is an asset.
This position is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or individuals with refugee status between the ages of 18 and 30. This position is contingent upon grant funding approval.
