For gifts with a restricted purpose, ten percent will be allocated to support capacity building which may include marketing, receipting, reporting, and stewardship for the Foundation.
The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) is a registered Canadian charity that distributes funds to organizations that directly support individuals living with or recovering from mental illness and addiction in Alberta.

What donations do you accept?
- Donate online through our secure donation form by credit card or direct debit.
- Interac e-Transfer to finance@mentalhealthfoundation.ca. Include your full name, mailing address, and email address in the message section to receive a charitable tax receipt.
- Cash/cheque
- Funds raised through community events
- Corporate donations
- Memorial and Gifts in Celebration, Legacy Giving, including Planned Giving, Wills and Bequests, Gifts of Securities, etc.
- Donate a Car
- Bottle returns through SkipTheDepot

When will I receive my tax receipt?
Tax receipts are provided for donations $25 and over as outlined by the CRA. For online donations:
- Credit card: Within 2-3 business days by email
- Direct debit: Up to 5 business days once your donation is received
- Other donations (cash, cheque): Within 2-3 weeks by mail or email
- Year-end donations: By February 28th
I lost my tax receipt. Can you send another?
If your receipt has been lost or misplaced, or if you have moved, a duplicate receipt can be issued. Please call us or email donate@mentalhealthfoundation.ca with your donation information.
Is my personal and financial information secure?
