The Need For Better Access
In addition to the millions of individuals who struggle with their mental health, mental illness indirectly affects all Canadians at some time through a family member, friend or colleague. It probably affects someone you love. In any given year, 1 in 5 people in Canada will personally experience a mental health problem or illness. You may be one of these people.
Currently, when an individual is seeking addiction or mental health support in Edmonton, there are many doors to walk through, and many incredible services to choose from, but it can be difficult to determine which door is the right door to walk through for help.
Donors to the Mental Health Foundation and the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation are about to change that through their support of the creation of a new single access point for addiction and mental health services in the Edmonton Zone.
Addiction and Mental Health Access 24/7
Addiction and Mental Health (AMH) Access 24/7 will consolidate the current access points into one front door where patients and families have streamlined access to multiple services, making it easier to navigate the system. You no longer have to guess which place is right for you.
We’re asking for your help today to make this important and critical change to mental health access. With donor support like yours, soon there will be one door for help, and that door will always be the right door. What a profound difference this one door will make to patients who are desperate for help, and who need a clear pathway to find the right treatment.
AMH Access 24/7 will be located across the street from the Royal Alexandra Hospital’s Emergency Department in Anderson Hall.
You can help us make this new access centre a reality.
This centralized and integrated intake location will offer one door of entry for mental health support to all residents of Edmonton, the surrounding communities, and even beyond. The AMH Access 24/7 will also provide telephone support, in-person assessment, crisis outreach, and patient stabilization at any time of day or night.
Please show your support today. Help us make the Access 24/7 centre the warm and welcoming environment people struggling with mental illness deserve.
Imagine the life-saving support this will provide. Imagine the relief it means for those who are struggling.
Help us open the door to better mental health care in Edmonton.
One door, one phone call, one place for help. #Onedooryeg
