Create an Endowment Fund

A named endowment fund is an excellent way to ensure your gift continues to support the Foundation over time.

Endowed gifts are not spent at the time the gift is made. The gift is invested and a portion of the investment income (3.5%) is disbursed annually to support current and new initiatives. This steady income allows for long-term strategic planning to meet the needs of the community. The balance of the income is re-invested to protect the fund against inflation.

While any size of gift may be endowed, a minimum contribution of $15,000 enables you to establish a named fund in your name or as a tribute. This gift can be made today, or you may wish to consider leaving a gift in your will.

Emerging Endowment Fund

Another option is to create an “emerging” endowment fund. What this means is you can start a named endowment fund with a gift of $1,500 in the current year and pledge to make annual gifts over the next 10 years (total of $15,000), with no disbursements from the fund, until it reaches the minimum value for a named fund.

Our Goal

The Mental Health Foundation’s goal is to raise $5 million in endowment gifts over the next 10 years, which will provide steadily increasing annual income starting at $175,000 per year.
