Caregiver Education

Virtual mental health education and strategies for caregivers to support the mental wellness of children and adolescents.

Supporting the mental health literacy of parents, families, and professionals that care for children and youth is a priority, especially during this global pandemic as so many are experiencing anxiety, fatigue, illness, and loss.

COVID-19 halted in-person programming for caregivers looking to support children and adolescents, so the Child, Youth, and Family team adapted.

Thanks to donor support, the Education team has been delivering sessions in a virtual format since July 2020, adapted to allow for participation and interaction.

These include new sessions to address the real-time needs of caregivers and parents during this extraordinary time.

5125 participants benefited from mental health literacy support in the first year through the delivery of 138 sessions.

All presenters are Mental Health Educators with extensive knowledge of addiction and mental health issues impacting children, adolescents, families and communities.

Team members come from a variety of backgrounds, including: child & youth development specialist, counselling, occupational therapy, nursing, psychology, social services, social work, & teaching. Educational sessions and parenting groups are based on evidence-based information and best practices, along with the clinical experience of staff.

In addition to live educational sessions, check out the Caregiver Education website for Covid-19 Resources and Mental Health Videos and Info Sheets. Watch with a parenting group or alongside your kids.
