Breaking the Silence is a free annual event where community members can move, engage, and learn about mental health together.
Chat with local mental health organizations online. Have some fun with your kids. Take a stroll with your cohort. This week is all about community and taking care of our mental health.
Breaking the Silence is going into its 6th year, but this year is going to look a little different. As Alberta opens up the need to physically distance is still important for the health of our community, so we can’t host you all in person.
If we’ve learned anything from the past few months it’s that having the right tools and support for our mental health is more important than ever. So we’re bringing Breaking the Silence to you. Join us for this week of education and celebration.
Date: June 20th to June 27th, 2020
Location: You can run or walk anywhere as long as you are respecting the provincial guidelines regarding physical distancing and other preventative measures surrounding COVID-19.
Kick Off Instagram Dance Party June 20th at 11:00 a.m.
We’ll be offering opportunities to engage throughout the week. Stay tuned for more details.
Mental Health Organization Zoom Meet & Greet
June 27th at 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
1. Register yourself or a team. Upon registration you will have the option to personalize a fundraising page. Participation is optional but every bit helps.
2. Pick your run/walk time. Set a goal of walking 1 hour throughout the week or running for 30 minutes. Whatever your challenge, just get outside and get active (you’ll be supporting your own mental health too).
3. Before you lace up those running shoes, #breakthesilence by posting who you’re walking for on social.
