On January 25th the Grade 3 students of Room 7 at Roberta MacAdams School, along with their teachers Mrs. Laird and Mrs. Fuhr, held a fundraising event on behalf of the Mental Health Foundation. Students wore hats as a reminder of the importance of mental health.
The fundraiser coincided with Bell Let’s Talk day and was inspired by the Foundation’s Executive Director, Mark Korthuis, who stopped by the classroom the week before to talk to the kids about mental health.
The Grade 3 class made posters, wrote public service announcements, and visited classrooms. The students’ “Coins for Compassion” campaign raised $533.44, in addition to raising awareness for mental health throughout the school. We are thankful for their support; it goes to show that it only takes a little effort to go beyond talk towards action.
